The University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (UIC Law) inducted an additional 33 alumni into its Hall of Distinction on March 3 at its 2022 Induction Ceremony. During the virtual event, the Honorable Timothy C. Evans (JD 1969), Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and a past inductee, was presented this year’s Howard T. Markey Award.
The UIC Law Hall of Distinction recognizes graduates of the law school who have risen to positions on the judiciary or as elected officials and reflects the collective impact and continuing accomplishments alumni have on the legal profession and community. With the induction of the 2022 class of honorees, the portraits of nearly 400 alumni now line the hallways leading to the Law School’s Arthur J. Goldberg Memorial Courtroom; however, the number of alumni judges and elected officials who qualify for induction far exceed that total. More graduates of the Law School have served on the bench in Illinois than from any other law school.
“Alumni have every reason to take pride in the Law School’s long history of graduates who have dedicated their lives to public service,” offers Lauren Prihoda Weiner (JD 2010), Executive Director of Alumni Relations & Development. “The Hall of Distinction is a symbol of that impact. We’re proud to induct the 2022 class, and we’re determined to help all who qualify find their rightful place among the ranks of those we honor.”

During the 2022 Induction Ceremony, the Law School also honored the Honorable Timothy C. Evans (JD 1969), Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, with this year’s Howard T. Markey Award in recognition of his years of leadership and service on the bench. Chief Judge Evans was elected to the bench in 1992, after serving Chicago as an Alderman for 18 years. He has served as Chief Judge since 2001.

About the Hall of the Distinction
Located for decades on the Law School’s first floor, the Hall of Distinction was moved to the State Street Building’s fourth-floor hallways following institutional renovations in the 2010s. In its current location, inductee portraits steward the passage of students and guests to and from the Arthur Goldberg Memorial Courtroom, a constant reminder of our graduates’ legacy of service to the public.
