“I don’t see much support for term limits on the executive level because most of the post-Civil War state constitutions impose term limits on, for instance, their governors,” said Professor Ann Lousin. “I remember when George Wallace could have only two terms; he wanted a third, so he put his wife [Lurleen Burns Wallace] in office. She let him be her chief of staff. It was a sad joke.”
