The Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution will begin holding tryouts for the Spring 2011 mock trial competition teams. Starting on October 27th students interested in participating can sign up for tryout slots beginning at 9:00 am in Room 411. The Center is very pleased with the great turnout it had for the Fall teams and is anticipating an even greater turnout for the Spring competition teams. The only requirements for students interested in trying out are: you must be currently enrolled in Trial Advocacy, have completed Trial Advocacy or be enrolled in Accelerated Trial Advocacy in January, 2011. There are three teams being filled this year: the Texas Young Lawyers Association-National Trial Advocacy Competition (February 2011), American Association of Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition (March 2011), and Capitol City Challenge (March 2011). A shadow team will also be selected for the ABA-JMLS Criminal Mock Tial Competition sponsored by The John Marshall Law School. The tryouts will be held in the Baim Courtroom on November 1st-3rd from 12:00pm-5:00 p.m. For those of you who are unfamiliar with trying out for a team, the Center has a video on its website to help you prepare for your tryout.
If you have any questions, visit the Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution Honors Board and Council office in room 411. You can speak to any Honors Board member, and they will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. For those that do try out, final selections will be announced in the upcoming weeks. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!
