César Escovar, a 2L evening student at The John Marshall Law School, was recently appointed to an American Bar Association (ABA) leadership position as the 2015-2016 Law Student Division (LSD) liaison to the Business Law Section.
Escovar will provide leadership and administrative support to 50 practice-specific committees, and advocate the interests of over 30,000 LSD members. Escovar assumes his post at the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago in September and will participate regularly in ABA business meetings – domestic and international – to assist in the development and execution of substantive Continuing Legal Education programs. Escovar also will engage law students to participate in notable Section programs, including the Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest, Diversity Clerkship Program, Speed Networking and 101 Program Series (e.g. How to Network, How to Sharpen Professional Skills, etc.).
Escovar currently serves as the director of Financial Services at North Side Community Federal Credit Union to empower people and communities who are not using mainstream financial institutions or who may be experiencing financial challenges. Escovar intends to pursue a consumer financial services law practice upon graduation.
