The Department of Event Management has welcomed Tonya Walters to its staff. She worked as a temporary employee for the department since May, and she got full-time status in September. Walters primary responsibilities are providing logistical support for CLE programs and handling CLE reporting after the programs, and other events executed by the Event Management staff.
Walters spent the past eight years as a member of the United States Air Force. She served as ICBM crew combat operations officer in Montana; air mobility officer in Iraq and training manager in Kuwait; chief quality assurance and Missile Warning Operations Center crew commander in Alaska; and officer-in-charge of Missile Warning Center Initial Qualification Training and deputy Missile Warning Center crew commander.
Prior to joining the Air Force, Walters taught seventh and eighth grade French and Spanish at Kennedy Junior High School in Naperville, Ill.
She earned a master’s in education from TUI University, and a bachelor’s degree in French from Arkansas Tech University. She’s taking guitar classes at Old Town School of Folk Music, and enjoys running, biking, skiing, kayaking, knitting, learning and traveling.
