The John Marshall Law School welcomes Sophie M. Sparrow and Robert G. Schwemm as visiting professors for the fall 2012 semester.
Sparrow will teach Lawyering Skills I and work with the faculty on student performance assessments. She is a noted expert in the field who is a consultant to the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning, and has written several books, including co-authoring Techniques for Teaching Law 2 in 2011, and Teaching Law by Design for Adjuncts in 2010. The Harvard Law School graduate has given dozens of workshops and presentations on teaching, professionalism, assessment and writing. She is the former director of the University of New Hampshire School of Law’s Career Services Center, and a former director of legal skills.
Schwemm returns to John Marshall to teach Civil Procedure. He has been a guest faculty member several times in the past, and has presented for programs hosted by the Fair Housing Legal Support Center. Schwemm is the Ashland-Spears Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Law teaching civil procedure, constitutional law and civil rights, and has written on housing discrimination law and litigation. The Harvard Law School graduate has been a faculty member since 1975.
