Herzog Lecture Focuses on Religious Freedom in the Middle East

Herzog Memorial Lecture, “Religious Freedom Under Assault in the Middle East: An Imperative for the U.S. and the International Community to Hold Governments to Account,” at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the law school. Guest lecturer Dwight N. Bashir is deputy director for Policy and Research with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). He has traveled to the Middle East and North Africa, and drafted numerous reports on the status of religious freedom and related human rights, as well as advocated implementation of policy recommendations before successive administrations and Congress. Bashir also directs
USCIRF’s Joseph R. Crapa Fellowship Program. The Herzog lecture is offered in memory of John Marshall Dean Fred F. Herzog, who was dean of the law school from 1976 to 1983.
