Drop off your old cell phones at the Chicago Bar Association by Oct. 12 for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and you can help a domestic violence victim and the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV).
The phone will be refurbished and sold through Verizon’s HopeLine program with the proceeds going to support local domestic violence shelters and programs. The program also provides domestic violence agencies with wireless phones and airtime for use by domestic violence victims.
Professor Leslie Ann Reis, director of the Center for Information Technology and Privacy Law, is coordinating the collections on behalf of Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon who is spearheading ICADV. Reis can be reached at 7reis@jmls.edu.
