On May 3, 2011, he was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve as Professor-Reporter to the Illinois Judicial Conference Committee on Discovery Procedures.

In a motion submitted on April 25th,she was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court bar. Chief Justice Roberts sustained the motion by Dan Cotter, CBA Treasurer, which Kennedy attended. “It was an honor to be in the presence of the Supreme Court justices at my swearing in ceremony. In light of Justice Ginsburg’s poor health, the event was of profound significance to me. The experience was both a professional and personal highlight.” After the swearing in ceremony, there were two oral arguments for the cases of Erica P. John Fund v. Halliburton Co., and McNeill v. United States.

He serves as Secretary of the Illinois State Bar Association and represented the ISBA in the First District Admission Ceremony for new attorneys on May 5, 2011. Other John Marshall alumni in attendance included: Wendy Fawcett, President of the Illinois Native American Bar Association; and Nicole Bashor, First Vice President of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago.
He was appointed Senior Advisor to the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues Network of the American Bar Association Section of International Law.
He was appointed as Co-Chair of the Private International Law Coordinating Committee of the American Bar Association Section of International Law.
