Members of the John Marshall community hosted a thought-provoking conversation on April 18 about the barriers to housing that formerly incarcerated people face.
John Marshall Professor Cecil J. Hunt, Hon. Sheila Murphy, co-director of the law school’s Restorative Justice Project, Kathleen Kane-Willis, director of policy and advocacy for the Chicago Urban League and Priscilla Foster, residential development coordinator for The Renaissance Collaborative led the discussion about how criminal histories can impact housing opportunities.
The discussion was part of John Marshall’s month-long celebration of Fair Housing Month and the passage of the Fair Housing Act. As a recipient of HUD funding, the John Marshall Law School Fair Housing Legal Support Center & Clinic is committed to educating the community about fair housing laws.
