On February 27, Professor Alberto Bernabe was inducted into the Puerto Rico Academy of Jurisprudence (the “Academia Puertorriqueña de Jurisprudencia y Legislación”), which is an affiliate of the Spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudence.  The Academia is an organization dedicated to promoting the study and development of the law in Puerto Rico. Its new members are chosen by the current members for their scholarly contributions.  Since its founding in 1985, the Academia has chosen only seven scholars from outside the island to become members.

At the formal induction ceremony, Bernabe was introduced by one of the current members of the Academia as a very prolific scholar who has published significant articles over the years in the areas of Professional Responsibility and Torts and who has taught several times as a visiting professor at the University of Puerto Rico Law School.

“Being chosen by the members of the Academia is a great honor,” said Bernabe. “The fact that the members of the Academia think I have made significant contributions to the development of the law, even though I live so far away, is very rewarding.”
