Malaysian lawyer Mohammed Muzammil Hairiri recently spent several weeks at John Marshall to help learn how to set up a legal clinic to help women in his home country in family law matters. Divorce rates in Malaysia are soaring, and women of little or no means often are not represented in family law matters and can be treated unfairly. Hairiri shadowed several of John Marshall’s clinical professors and attorneys to learn about providing legal services to populations in need. His trip was sponsored by the U.S. Young Southeast Asian Leaders grant and the American Council of Young Political Leaders.
