Third-year student, Jerrilyn Gumila, has been selected as the 2020 recipient of The Joseph J. Duffy Trial Advocacy Scholarship in the amount of $8,000, which will be applied evenly towards her tuition expenses.
The Joseph J. Duffy Trial Advocacy Scholarship provides assistance to students who are committed to developing trial advocacy skills through designated coursework, participation with Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution Honors Board and Council or competitions at UIC John Marshall Law School. The scholarship was established by Joseph Duffy, a 1979 graduate of the Law School.
Earlier this semester, Gumila was a national finalist and named Best Oralist at the Twelfth Annual First Amendment and Media Law Diversity Moot Court Competition. She was also awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund, which was sponsored by law firm Schiff Hardin LLP.
