Professor Daryl Lim, director of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago’s Center for Intellectual Property, Information & Privacy Law, has been appointed to the advisory board of the American Antitrust Institute. He was selected based on the record of his work in the field of IP and antitrust law.

“AAI is an important voice in antitrust law. It has prepared a number of transitional reports for the Obama administration as well as amicus briefs to inform the Supreme Court and other courts of complex issues on competition law and policy,” said Lim. “It is a great honor to be part of this widely-esteemed organization, and I look forward to contributing to the development of the law for the benefit of both companies and consumers.”

With his appointment, Lim joins a board of internationally renowned professors and economists whose work influences policy at the highest level of government and the law including academics from the University of Notre Dame, New York University, Georgetown University and George Washington University.

“We are delighted to add Professor Lim to the American Antitrust Institute’s Advisory Board. His work is on the vanguard of the intersection between intellectual property and competition law and his expertise will help the AAI advance this important field,” said AAI President Diana Moss.

The American Antitrust Institute promotes competition through education, research and advocacy and the use of antitrust enforcement as a vital component of national and international policies on competition.

Lim is one of the most recognized young leaders in the fields of antitrust and patent law. In addition to serving as the Director of John Marshall’s Center for Intellectual Property, Information & Privacy Law, he oversees the law school’s nationally ranked IP program.

At the law school, Lim created a series of John Marshall-hosted talks by government IP leaders as well as distinguished IP practitioners, academics and regulators. Lim’s articles have appeared in four of the top eight IP law reviews in the U.S., as well as in peer-reviewed journals and books in Europe and Asia. He also serves as a peer reviewer for The Yale Law Journal, the International Review of IP and Competition Law (IIC), Cambridge University Press and the Hong Kong University Press. He has written 15 articles and spoken at nearly 40 conferences.

John Marshall is one of just three law schools in Chicago to be ranked in the top 25 in IP law by U.S. News & World Report. John Marshall, ranked 21st, also is one of 42 law schools in the country to participate in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Law School Clinic Certification Program. It is the only law school in Illinois whose USPTO program focuses on both patent and trademark practice areas. With more than 50 specialized IP courses, John Marshall’s program draws students from around the U.S. and across the globe and has partnered with IP lawyers in the People’s Republic of China for 20 years.
