Speaker discusses a UN meeting John Marshall hosted
The Housing Center is the regional HUD- certified Housing Counseling and Fair Housing Enforcement agency serving the south suburbs since 1975. John Petruszak will summarize testimony he has given about the local foreclosure crisis to the National Commission on Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Hearings, the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review and to a National Fair Housing Conference hosted by John Marshall Law School. He will review the relationship between historic demographic patterns, predatory lending practices and the resulting severity of the rate of foreclosure in the south suburbs. Programs in place and further recommendations to resolve the plight of families victimized by foreclosure will be also be addressed.
