Lauren L. Witkowski (JD 2009), Senior Trial Attorney at Zurich North America, will be installed as President of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI) at a ceremony in June. Ms. Witkowski will use her presidency to advocate for paid family leave in Illinois.
A strong voice for women in the legal profession, Ms. Witkowski’s involvement with the WBAI began while she was a law student. She has since served the WBAI as Recording Secretary, Communications & Marketing Officer and Second Vice President and currently serves as WBAI’s First Vice President.
Ms. Witkowski will be officially installed as president at the WBAI’s 108th Annual Installation Dinner, on Thursday, June 16, 2022, during a program that will feature prominent speakers and honor a number of prominent female attorneys. Justice Jesse G. Reyes (JD 1982) of the Illinois Appellate Court will install the 2022-2023 Board of Directors.
The Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI), one of the oldest and largest bar associations in the state of Illinois, was first established in 1914 by nine women lawyers practicing in the Chicago area. The WBAI was founded to promote the interests and welfare of women lawyers and to aid in the enactment of legislation for the common good and in the administration of justice. Its activities have always addressed social and political issues and the advancement of its members’ employment.
