The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association presented scholarships to students Michael Eisenberg and Victoria Vasilev for the 2011-12 academic year.
The presentations were made at the alumni association’s annual meeting June 10, 2011. Eisenberg received $3,000 and Vasilev received $1,000.
Eisenberg, a third-year student, is ranked in the top 20 percent of his class. He is a member of the Elder Law Society, Illinois State Bar Association and the Decalogue Society. He has been a legal assistant for his father’s firm, Curtis L. Eisenberg and Associates in Northbrook, Ill. Eisenberg has also worked as a law clerk at Levin & Perconti of Chicago and as a legal assistant for the offices of Macey and Aleman, also of Chicago.
Eisenberg received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. His father, the late Curtis L. Eisenberg, was a 1976 John Marshall alumnus who dedicated many hours to pro bono services for his community.
“It is my goal to use the tools I have learned in law school to continue his legacy of helping others through the law,” Eisenberg said.
Vasilev is also a third-year student. Vasilev has been a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, participated in the 1L Moot Court Competition and was a semi-finalist for the Capital City Challenge in the Trial Advocacy Competition in Washington in the spring semester. Vasilev also is a legal clinical student supervisor for the Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic at John Marshall.
Vasilev has worked as a law clerk in the Office of the Cook County Public Defender and as a legal extern for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for Immigration Customs and Enforcement in Chicago.
Vasilev grew up in Bulgaria and has lived in the United States for the past 10 years. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in 2008.
