In spring 2010, Associate Director Heather Harper offered the inaugural workshop Green Building and LEED Basics to Center students. This workshop was designed to qualify and prepare Center students to sit for the LEED Green Associate Exam. Approximately 15 students participated in this pilot workshop. Every student who sat for the exam passed on the first try. So far, five students in that class have become LEED Green Associates: Tom Antoine, Joe Calvanico, Mark Lara, Brandon Rogers, and Patton VanVeckhoven. Back by popular demand, this year’s program, held in May 2011, was offered to the entire John Marshall student body, as well as the Center community. The course size has swelled, and we expect this group of students to sit for the LEED Green Associate Exam shortly after completion of the workshop.
Knowledge of basic green issues in real estate is becoming increasingly important for attorneys who need to adapt to client demands. John Marshall is the only law school in the area offering this fantastic opportunity to its students and community. Good luck 2011 test takers! Let us know the result, so we can share the great news.
