Take an attorney out of the office and you may discover he or she has some great show talents.
Starting in October, Associate Director Tiffany Farber would leave her desk in the Career Services Office and walk next door to the Chicago Bar Association (CBA) to rehearse as a performer in the CBA’s “Christmas Spirits” revue. This year’s show, Dec. 4-8, was “The Merry Old Land of Lawz,” a play on The Wizard of Oz.
Farber, a second-soprano, has been singing since high school. This was her fourth year with the CBA cast. Being in the cast “is a lot of fun, and I’ve found it’s a great way to meet people,” she said. “Over the years I’ve met some awesome people.”
She was a cast member for five of this year’s skits, including one about gay marriage, in which she sang:
Ding, dong the gays can wed
With no glitch
We can get hitched
Ding, dong the gays can now be wed
Wake up the Catholic head
His old ways are really dead
Ding, dong the gays can now be wed
It’s out with the status quo
Let go, let go, let go
Yo ho, just open up your mind
And let the hate out
Ding, dong the merry-oh; sing it high, sing it low
Let them know the gays can now be wed!
Farber praises the script writers who do such a great job that the one-of-a-kind skits are funny and impressive. “I’ve had people come who are blown away by the professionalism,” she said.
